Here are some things I can see happening if the Grizzlies draft Hasheem Thabeet.
1. Chris Vernon will go insane.
2. Grizzlies’ fans will go insane.
3. Fans are going to hate Michael Heisley.
4. Fans are going to lose faith in Chris Wallace.
5. Marc Gasol…well who knows what we do with him.
6. There will still be a hole at power forward.
7. Thabeet will have an absurd amount of pressure on him to
a. Be a defensive force right from the get go
b. Develop an offensive in the next 15 months
c. Prove in the long run he was a better choice than Rubio or a trade
d. Win over the city that is pretty much already against him
Everyone out there is saying we are drafting Thabeet. These are just a few things going through my head as we approach draft night. All I know is that for this draft pick to work out, there is going to have to be many things that go perfectly. So many things could go wrong with this decision.
Let’s say this happens. Thabeet is rookie of the year, Mike Conley is an all-star point guard this season, and Darrell Arthur/Hakim Warrick is the answer at power forward. That could happen, right? Nope, that can’t happen. However, here is one way this could work out for us. We draft Thabeet and he is at least a defensive presence in the lane (10 boards, 2 blocks). We sign Carlos Boozer, and Mike Conley continues to progress as he did under Coach Hollins. If all of these took place, I might not be so depressed. I do not see this happening, but I can wish for it. Either way, I am preparing myself for the worst on Thursday night.
These are what I have heard of for the 2009 Memphis Grizzlies draft day parties on June 25. This is some general information that I hope helps you make the decision of where you are going to celebrate.
Alright, first off you got the FedExForum Party. Free Entry. Doors Open at 5. They are going to have some Grizzlies players, coaches, and personnel there throughout the night. There are also some contests going on where you can win tickets for this year.
The Chris Vernon Show Draft Day Party. This is at Jason's Deli. Jenkz put up a nice little informational video on YouTube about it. There is a $5 cover charge, but there is free food and beer. So, your going to get that back pretty easily. You can go support our affiliate at grizzfans.com.
That's all I have heard of. Let me know if you know of more.

Antonio Anderson
Charles Fasnacht reports on
Grizz Blogs that the Grizzlies brought in 6 more players yesterday for pre-draft workouts. These were possiblities for the Grizzlies picks at 27 and 36. The players were Jermaine Taylor of Central Floria, Stefon Jackon of UTEP, Terrence Roderick from UAB, Antonio Anderson of Memphis, East Tennessee's Kevin Tiggs, and Miami's Jack McClinton.
Any players you wish the Grizzlies would work out? I would like to see Tyler Hansbrough getting a chance. I think the Grizzlies could use some toughness and hustle on the team. He is going to provide this every night over his entire career. Hansbrough proved that in college. I wouldn't mind somebody on our team that opposing teams and fans would love to hate. I think the NBA has proven that players who provide hustle and toughness can be very beneficial to a team. I look at somebody like Joakim Noah on the Bulls, or Anderson Varajao on the Cavs. He may not be as talented as these guys, but I think he could certainly provide a spark off the bench. It would definitely make fans happy to see a Grizzly player working his butt off every minute he was on the floor.
