This is part II of the Grizz Picks blogs.
How many wins in 09'-10'? 36. I think our sophmores are going to develop this year. I look mostly at the conditioning of Arthur, Haddadi, Gasol, and Mayo to improve. It's a big jump to play an 82 game season.
O.J. Mayo's PPG average? 23.4. This goes along with his experience last year. But, more importantly If the Grizzlies draft Ricky Rubio (and he comes here next year), this average will be reached with a more effective PG getting him the ball.
Most Improved Next Year? Marc Gasol. He is going to get something valuable to help him this offseason. I'm guessing either Ricky, who is going to get him better looks. Or a power forward to take off some pressure in the post. I could see him averaging 14 points and 9 boards next year.
These are some thoughts onI have been thinking of for the Grizzlies. This will be a two part blog. Feel free to give your own awards in the comments or via email.
Most Excited to See in 09'-Blake Griffin hopefully. I am still holding out hope that we can make a move up to take the first pick. If not him, then I am excited to see how O.J., Marc, Hamed, and Darrell have developed this offseason.
Most Pressure in 09'- Mike Conley/Chris Wallace. This depends on the draft for both people. The fans are going to have their minds made up by the end of the season on both of them.
MVP of 09'- O.J. Mayo. I have to give this to him because of how impressive he was this season on the court as a player and leader. I think we will see a big improvement between this year and last. I look for him to be as effective the whole year as he was during the first months of the season. His body will be more able to handle a full NBA season.
I'll have some more picks tomorrow.
