About Me
I am finishing up my last year of college. I have played, watched, and critiqued basketball for a long time. I love basketball at all levels, but I have always enjoyed the NBA the most. I have been a fan of the Grizzlies since they moved to Memphis. My dad bought me a Gasol jersey when he was a rookie. I started following the team and here I am. To be honest I am a huge Bulls fan, too. I grew up with Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman. I am from Illinois so it was almost impossible to not root for the Bulls. The Bulls have taught me how to be loyal to a team. I witnessed the glory days and unfortunately the Marcus Fizer, Jay Williams, Tyson Chandler, and Jamal Crawford days. This skill is very valuable when it comes to being a Grizzlies fan. As far as other sports go I am a huge fan of the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals.
I played college football for two years before I blew out my knee. Nope, I didn't hurt it playing football. I tore my PCL, LCL, and MCL playing pick up basketball. I was hoping to return to the field this year and redshirted last year, but the knee is a piece of crap and I am now slow. That is not good for a defensive back in a primarily man to man defensive scheme. This also transformed the style of basketball I play. There used to be loads of driving and some solid defense. Now, I would compare my style to an old guy baller. Firing up 3's and hacking on D. Who knows, maybe the knee will come back eventually.
I was able to be a student assistant football coach last year during my redshirt. That was a great experience because I am getting a degree in education and hope to coach basketball in the future. Actually, the reason this site was created was because of my education degree. We were required to have a "technology usage enrichment plan" created our freshmen year. I decided I would design a website. I talked with my advisor about the idea that has become "The Growl", and he approved it. When I started this site I expected to work on it every now and then. This has not been the case, and everytime I see a computer I have to check on it. It has been exciting, interesting, and challenging. I hope to keep it going for a long time.
